We are happy to publish this Special Section on Foundations of Computer Science. This is the fourteenth section of this title. The main goal of this section is to review and to promote recent progress in the field of foundations of computer science. This year we received 15 submissions: 13 full papers and 2 letters from Japan and other Asian countries. After careful and strict review process, 5 (full) papers were accepted for publication. We believe that the reviewers' comments will be useful
