The article describes the basic methods of verbal-symbolic objectification binary opposition up/down based on Russian folklore texts. Itidentified the basic symbolic and semantic components that characterize the comparison in an evaluative-axiological paradigm. It is an attempt to demonstrate the connection of symbolic meanings of lexical verbal indicators for binary opposition up/down with the elements of the internal lexic on of man.
