Wireless sensor nodes can be deployed on a battlefield and organize themselves in a large-scale ad-hoc network. Traditional routing protocols do not take into account that a node contains only a limited energy supply. Optimal routing tries to maximize the duration over which the sensing task can be performed, but requires future knowledge. This research paper presents an energy efficient routing protocol for WSN. EERM uses some unique features such as event triggers method with modified network energy model and location awareness variable, with energy consumption function and threshold. EERM avoids the flooding and takes the benefit of both collision aware and load balancing mechanism for energy conservation of the network. EERM model includes all the parameters which can effect network lifetime and energy. Proposed EERM considers various matrices which include Life time of node, Transmission power, Number of co-relation for conception and available energy. EERM sets upper for the connection in advance, which helps to decide and restrict a number of connections. Proposed EERM protocol and existing protocols such as LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Cluster Hierarchy) routing protocol) are implemented and various performance measuring parameters such as packet delivery ratio, network life time, packet drop ratio, packet drop ratio is calculated.
