In some metropolitan areas in the US, mortgage lending takes into account the Location Efficient Value (LEV); the transportation cost savings to the borrower resulting from the purchase of a home in a community with efficient public transport services. Through studies of the housing markets in Hamburg in relation to public transport accessibility this dissertation aims to explore how the concept of the Location Efficient Mortgage could be transferred from the US to Germany.
