ÖZET Kanserle ba¤›fl›kl›k sistemi aras›nda son derece karmafl›k ve çok faktörlü bir iliflki söz konusudur. Ço¤u kanserli hastada zay›f ve güçsüz ba¤›fl›kl›k yan›t› oluflmakta ve kanserli hücrelerin temizlenmesine yeterli olmamaktad›r.Kanser immunoterapisni anlamak için öncelikle kanser ve ba¤›fl›kl›k sistemi aras›ndaki karfl›l›kl› etkileflimler güncel bilgiler ›fl›¤›nda tart›fl›lm›fl, ard›ndan tedavi yaklafl›mlar› irdelenmifltir. In vast majority of cancer patients only very weak immune responses insufficient to eliminate cancer cells from the body are observed. To understand cancer immunology, we reviewed the nature of interactions between the cancerous and immune cells in the light of current knowledge and discussed therapeutic approaches. Recently promising results on cancer immunotherapy are obtained with dendritic cells and dendritic cell based vaccine therapies. The dendritic cells seem to have pivotal role in cancer immunity;since, their stimulation with particular cancer antigens in the presence of cytokines like GM-CSF can cause efficient stimulation of the immune system against cancer. However, to be able to define the right antigen remains a major issue.
