The aim of the present study was to investigate the reliability and validity of a standardized assessment of social support towards HIV positive patients is considered to be associated with improved physical health outcomes. A hypothetical model was evaluated by structural equation modeling to determine the adequacy of goodness-of-fit to sample data. The model showed excellent goodness-of-fit. The results supported multidimensionality. The 18 item social support provides a valid and reliable scale to measure social support among participants.
