Communication systems have been driven towards the fifth generation (5G) due to the demands of compact, high speed, and large bandwidth systems. These types of radio communication systems require new and more efficient antenna designs. This article presents a new design solution of a broadband microstrip antenna intended for use in 5G systems. The proposed antenna has a central operating frequency of 28 GHz and can be used in the LMDS (local multipoint distribution service) frequency band.
