Modeling and experimental characterization of protein mass transfer and adsorption in preparative chromatography
[thesis]
2013
Preparative chromatography is the most commonly used purification process for therapeutic proteins. This technique is already implemented and well understood since long for small molecules. On contrary, for proteins, the chromatographic process is still developed in an empirical way. A better understanding of protein chromatography is necessary to reduce the time and the cost of the process development and also to implement the concept of Quality by Design (QbD) developed by the FDA.
