Comparing Lionello Sozzi's work to a mine, in which the reader choses his path through numerous branches and finds countless nuggets, Paolo Tortonese's article offers a minor appendix to Gli spazi dell'anima, immagini dell'interiorità nella cultura occidentale, published in 2011. Sozzi describes the images of the inner space as projections towards «superhuman and otherworldly dimensions, toward the reign of ideas».
