The present qualitative study examines Pontian Greek immigrants who lived in ex Soviet Union, and came to Greece via repatriation, during the last decades along with many other immigrant people from different countries. Even though the state adopted special strategies and programs for the social integration of repatriated Greeks, there are still many shortcomings and difficulties which influence the psychosocial well-being in their new life. ... More specifically, via seven narrative interviews of Pontian Greeks it explored experiences of repatriation and adaptation in the Greek state. The research results gave us valuable information regarding lived experiences both in the ex-Soviet Union and Greece; the context of transition from the ex-Soviet to the Greek society, as well as problems, expectations, values, tradition, history, ways of life, personal and collective identity issues. Finally, implications for Counseling research, prevention and intervention with the particular population are discussed.
