17-6 A Study of Video Frame Interpolation Method using Patch-based Flow Estimation

We propose a new method of frame interpolation for the sake of creating slow-motion effects applicable to general footage. In order to estimate the motion vectors for each pixel, our method utilizes patch-based search, not using Optical Flow. The criteria of valid patch selection for pixel synthesis make possible to create high quality interpolated frames.
