Toxicity of Cadmium Particle Dust in Bacterial Cells

When TlhiobacMus intennedius 13-1, ltscherichia coli JMI09, and Agrobacterium radiobacter IFO12665bl were cultured in LB liquid medium containing O.03 g or O.1 g of cadmium particle dust, growth wtts strongly inhibited. Expese of cells to cadmium particle resulted in an increase iil pH and concentration of ammonfum ions. No cadmium particle attachment te the outer wall of 11 intenuedius or cell wall disruption was observed by transmission electron .mlcroscopy.
