Early skin-to-skin contact (SSC) between mothers and healthy term newborns is a key part of the Unicef Baby Friendly Initiative Standards. SSC immediately after birth provides cardiorespiratory stability, improves prevalence and duration of breastfeeding, improves maternalinfant bonding and decreases maternal stress.
