Imaging spectrometry provides densely sampled and finely structured spectral information for each image pixel over large areas, enabling the characterization of materials on the Earth's surface by measuring and analyzing quantitative parameters allowing the user to identify and characterize Earth surface materials such as minerals in rocks and soils, vegetation types and stress indicators, and water constituents.
