Composites include a class of materials of extreme importance for the development, mainly because it is possible to enable several applications by conferring better properties. This work consists of the formulation of composites using limestone mineral residue as a filling load in an isophthalic polyester matrix, which were tested through mechanical resistance tests (traction and flexion). In addition, physical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses were performed. Composites were

The tests were conducted according to the following standards: physical characterization (NBR 12766), mechanical tensile strength (ASTM D 3039) and flexion (ASTM 790). As results, the material presented a gradual absorption of water and porosity according to the variation of the matrix/load phases. Regarding mechanical behavior, the material ratified better performance in the proportions of 10 and 20 %, conferring better distribution of the dispersed phase. The microstructural analysis indicated that in the volumetric fraction of 20 % retains a higher number of particulate matter on the surface, besides limestone to establish proportional parameters for better dispersion, which enables its application in composites.
