Adiponectin and Body Mass Index in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
2020
International Journal of Contemporary Medical Research [IJCMR]
Diabetes Mellitus is a syndrome characterized by chronic hyperglycemia and disturbances of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism with absolute or relative deficiency of insulin secretion and/or insulin action. It is one of the most common non-communicable diseases in the world. Adiponectin is a protein secreted exclusively by adipocytes that regulates glucose and lipid metabolism. It has been found to influence the body's response to insulin thereby modulating insulin action and resistance.
