In order to understand the current state of affairs regarding journals published in Japan, we have conducted two investigations of the largest global medical data-base, MEDLINE: 1) an investigation of the transitions of Japanese journals reported on MEDLINE: 2) an investigation of the circumstances of articles on MEDLINE that are from journals of medical societies in Japan. Based on the results of our investigations, the (these) measures are examined in order to make more Japanese articles available on MEDLINE and send them abroad.
