The tribological behaviour of high temperature materials during dry friction under steam conditions up to 500 °C was optimized. Steam resistant couples of carbon/ceramic materials were tested. Ultra low friction and wear rates were reached in the millirange. Stable lowest wear coefficients up to 3,5x10-8 mm³/Nm and coefficients of friction around µ= 0,008 have been achieved. The origin of this effect has been analyzed by means LM, REM, AFM, Micro Laser Raman Small, XRD and Small Spot ESCA.
