The etiology of a novel cardiac syndrome 'tako-tsubo' cardiomyopathy, otherwise known as 'transient left ventricular (LV) apical ballooning' and which mimics acute myocardial infarction, is not clear; however, emotional or physical stress is known to precede the attack.
