S4N4 und seine Derivate: Molekül-und Kristallstruktur von S6N42+ (FeCl4 —)2 / S4N4 and its Derivatives: Molecular and Crystal Structure of SeN42+ (FeCl4-)2

The reaction of FeCl3 with S4N4 in CH2Cl2 at room temperature yields S6N42+(FeCl4-)2 (A), among other products. Crystal data of A: Space group P21/c, Z = 4, α = 12.090(4), b= 11.745(3), c= 13.918(3) Å, β= 101.25(2)°. In its dimensions and its conformation the S6N42+ -cation in A agrees well with the S6N42+ -cation in other salts. There exists one close S···Cl contact between each of the S atoms of the central S4 ring in the cation and the neighbouring FeCl4- anions (3.04 to 3.16 Å; for comparison: the S···Cl van der Waals distance is 3.50 Å).
