THE CONCEPT OF "INDUSTRIAL PHD" IN THE LIGHT OF RESEARCHERS' TRAINING

The paper reviews the current trends and practices in organization of industrial doctorate in a number of countries in Europe, focusing on the connection between the university and the industry. It is outlined the role of the university and the industrial company in organization of industrial doctorate. Among countries with experience in organizing and conducting the industrial PhD are Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Spain. Industrial Doctoral students, also

Research Engineers receive upon graduation an EngD degree, instead of PhD, and usually do not follow an academic career, being placed both in industry and in academic institutions where they conduct research relevant to industry. It is shown that industrial doctorate could be implemented also in Moldova.
