The project of a Synchrotron Laboratory in Barcelona is presented. Its feasibility was analized by a special committee created in July 1992 and was aproved by the Regional Since then a Steering Committee and an Advisory Committee have been operating and the firsts steps have been taken: the agreement for collaboration with the Spanish Administration, the choice of a possible site with the appropriated geotechnical characteristics and the search for provisional headquarters.
