The DDO Diode Array Spectrometer
1977
Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific
We have attached a self-scanning linear array of 256 photodiodes to a small spectrograph. This system has a demonstrated capability for medium-resolution spectrophotometry at moderate light levels. Particular features include linear response to better than 0.25%, no perceptible lag or cross-talk, useful from 3800 Á to 9500 Á, and a dynamic range of 1500. To eliminate dark current the diode array is cooled to -90° C with liquid nitrogen boil-off. We stress the usefulness of this type of device for accurate colorimetry.
