As a requirement of the 1996 Amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in conjunction with the United States Geological Survey performed source water assessments to predict the susceptibility of source water for all community water systems and those noncommunity water systems using surface water.
