The purpose of this paper is to fill the gap that exists in this field and to measure the production of solid waste generated in selected primary schools in the prefecture of Xanthi with primary field measurements. Specifically, daily amount of solid waste generated in a random sample of schools of the county has been calculated. We studied the factors that affect the rates of waste production such as geographical location, the existence of recycling programs, population density, operating time, etc. The final results of the analysis show that the geographical location and the existence of recycling programs affect both the rates of waste production and the quantity of solid waste produced by the primary schools of the prefecture.
