Electronic Properties of III-V Quantum Dots
[chapter]
2014
Lecture Notes in Computational Science and Engineering
Electronic properties of quantum dots are reviewed based on eightband k p theory. We will focus on the following interrelated subjects: First the role of crystallographic symmetry is evaluated. This includes the symmetry of the lattice of the substrate [wurtzite (wz) versus zinc blende (zb)] as well as different substrate orientations [zb-(001) versus zb- (111) ]. Second, we discuss two different types of band alignment, type-I versus type-II, by comparing the common-anion system zb-InAs/GaAs
