Diabetes and hyperglycemia increase periodontitis risk, severity, and extent. Increased whole-grain and fiber intakes are associated with improved insulin sensitivity and may therefore affect periodontitis risk. Objective: The objective was to examine the associations between whole-grain and fiber intakes and periodontitis risk.
