time required for producing anesthesia of dentine is the chief objection to the practical use of the method, and this drug may probably reduce the time. It is quite possible that the drug is not sufficiently escharotic to work harm in the dentine, but it would seem desirable to use it with caution till more is known of its effects. With guaiacol and cocain it would be less necessary to use the rubber dam, and it would also be easier, with the escharotic properties eliminated, to produce effects on the gum if it were desired to use
