An infrared spectrometer (1RS) is available for use at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory. The instrument has a slit of modest length and a selection of gratings that allow resolutions (X/AX) from ~ 150 to ~ 3000 over the wavelength range covered by its photovoltaic InSb array: 0.9 |xm to 5 |xm. The design and operating characteristics of the 1RS are described, and observing procedures and data-reduction techniques are outlined for potential users.doi:10.1086/132787 fatcat:i6wfaqtxbvdw5eyzrpumkhajge
