Aún no se conoce con exactitud la etiología de la neuralgia del trigémino. Muchos pacientes desarrollan tipos de dolor neurálgico que van desde dolor bucal hasta patología dental. Se presenta el caso de un hombre de 83 años con un diagnóstico de neuralgia del trigémino que fue tratado, inicialmente con Ibuprofeno, Rofecoxib y Tramado! sin alivio de sus síntomas. Many patients develop neuralgiform types of pain from bucal and dental patoses. This is a case of a man, 83 years old, with diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia. He was treated with Ibuprofen, Rofecoxib and Tramado! by general physicians and internist, without alleviation of symptoms. After a complete bucal and dental examination, were ordered panoramic and periapicals rx' s. A diagnosis of necrosis and periapical lesion of the first lower right molar was made. Endodontic treatment was instituted and the symptoms gradually disappeared. After two months, the pain was completely eliminated.
