Understanding Filipinos' Perceptions of Data Privacy in Crowdfunding: A Social Contract and Virtue Theory Perspective

This study explored the consequences of users' privacy concerns in the context of crowdfunding in the Philippines. Drawing from social contract theory and virtue theory, the proposed research model specifically links factors including prior negative experience, information privacy, perceived risk and trust towards degree of regulatory control. An indirect relationship between perceived negative experience and perceived risk through information privacy also emerged in the results. The study discusses ethical issues surrounding different crowdfunding platform types and some future directions for research.
