more » ... fail ure i n a fict i tious social sk ill test. The resul t indicated a self-ser ving tendency in the personal performance condition. This result suggests that people i n Asia do not represent the self -effaci ng tendency at all times. Par ticipants indicated a gr oupser ving tendency in the gr oup performance condition, suggesti ng that Chinese do demonstrate gr oupser ving tendency depending on success or failure. A n im por tant resul t was that gr oup-ser v ing tendency was m ore salient than self-ser vi ng. This suggests that Chinese self-enhancement is m ore readil y ex pressed throu gh posi ti ve causal at tr ibution regarding the i n-group.
