The mechanical and corrosion properties of duplex stainless steel welds are highly dependent on microstructure. Microstructure is affected by welding parameters and by filler metals. The high heat input and rapid cooling rates have a negative effect on the ferrite-austenite ratio in the welded joints of duplex stainless steels. The test materials were 1.4162 (lean duplex, LDX2101) and 1.4462 (AISI 2205) type steels in duplex steels group. Microstructural changes in welds were identified and examined using color metallographic methods.
