Response surface methodology has been used to study the effects of the machining parameters such as spindle speed, feed rate and axial depth of cut on surface roughness of duplex stainless steel in end milling operation. Dry milling experiments were conducted with three levels of spindle speed, feed rate and axial depth of cut. A mathematical model has been developed to predict the surface roughness in terms of the machining parameters using Box-Behnken design response surface methodology. The

The prediction equation shows that the feed rate is the most important factor that influences the surface roughness followed by axial depth of cut and spindle speed. The validity of the model was verified by conducting the confirmation experiment.
