<p>Primary borderline serous peritoneal tumour is a rare lesion found in the absence of ovarian pathology, in the presence of minimal ovarian involvement or in association with benign ovarian tumour. It is thought to arise from the mullerian system, which is embryologically derived from the coelomic and sub-coelomic mesenchyme, and therefore shares histologic similarities with ovarian serous tumours.
