In 1970 he joined the Philips Research Laboratories and started to work in the fault diagnostic field. Since 1976 he has been engaged in research on multiprocessor systems. His current field of interest is the architecture of these systems, logic design, and multivalued logic. Joep L. W. Kessels was born in Heerlen, The Netherlands, in 1942.
