H 2 C CH CH 2 OH O Animal Experiments and in vitro Studies There are no data available for allergenic effects of glycidol. Acute toxicity Inhalation In inhalation studies, glycidol exposure led in rats and mice to pneumonia and emphysema. The 4-hour LC 50 for the mouse was 450 ml/m 3 and the 8-hour LC 50 for the rat 500 ml/m 3 (Hine et al. 1956) . Ingestion After intragastric administration of glycidol, an LD 50 of 450 mg/kg body weight was determined for the mouse and of 550 mg/kg body weight for the rat (Hine et al. 1956 ).
