THE MIS COURSE IN THE MBA CURRICULUM: CURRENT PRACTICE AND FUTURE DIRECTIONS

The MBA curriculum is the subject of considerable research and discussion. This includes frequent criticism of the value of an MBA degree. This criticism typically centers on either a lack of relevancy to current business, economic or social conditions or to the claim of business practitioners that MBA graduates are lacking in preparation for the demands of modern business careers. more » ... ms. This paper examines the current state of the MBA curriculum by specifically asking the questions, "To what degree is MIS represented in MBA curricula?" And "how are MIS courses operationalized at the MBA level?" To answer these questions, we have conducted a thorough search of over one thousand universities that offer MBA programs, to determine how and to what degree MIS is integrated into MBA curricula.
