Phase composition of 8486, 8487 and 8488 NIST reference clinkers was estimated by means of Rietveld refinements. Two X-ray patterns were recorded for each clinker by diffractometers with reflection and transmission geometry. These patterns were used in refinements with atomic parameters fixed and/or atomic parameters relaxed. Calculated phase compositions of reference clinkers were compared to the compositions determined by MPC (microscopic point counting), which is producer of these materials.
more » ... of these materials. It was the weight content of tricalcium silicate (i.e. the most abundant phase), which was determined with the highest accuracy. Accuracy of the other phases contents decreased with their decreasing expected weight fractions. Refinement with atomic parameters relaxed resulted in lower value of R wp agreement factor, but this fact did not influence the accuracy of the estimated weight fractions.
