Control of Aphids on Spiraea

Spirea aphid control was evaluated by selecting 32 spiraea, 'Snowmound' plants growing in 2 gal pots with similar infestation levels. The plants were grown in a shade-house under standard nursery production conditions. Treatments were randomly applied with four single plant replicates per treatment. Plants were sprayed until drip using a one qt capacity hand-held Polysprayer. Temperature at the time of application was 21°C and the relative humidity was 57%. Prior to spraying (0 DAT) and at 2,
more » ... and 8 DAT, one, 5 cm long terminal was randomly selected from each plant and the total no. of live aphids was recorded. Aphids that were shriveled, distorted, and lacked movement were considered dead.
