For several years now the number of private companies participating in the formal educational sector in the country has been growing. These companies offer training courses and issue documents that recognize, certify or guarantee the holder of such documents has acquired certain knowledge and skills. Many of such documents lack what in México is known as "official recognition" because the issuing institution has no official recognition from the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) which is legally empowered to approve every curriculum. But the labor market does recognize these certifications, and in some cases are preferred over associated degrees or university degrees, since there is the belief that the holder is supported by a competent company or institution, or even by the manufacturer of the equipment that individual will operate. Although this situation is present in many fields of knowledge, there is no doubt that in the field of data processing and computer sciences the number of companies that certify knowledge and skills is particularly high. Therefore there is a difference in the way an individual's skills and knowledge are measured for a specific job or profession. For this reason many young people wonder whether to study and graduate with a traditional degree or obtain a certificate issued by a leader company.
