... alizados em Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. Os dados amostrais foram coletados no dia 05 de novembro de 2014, durante uma saída a campo no turno da manhã. Foram registradas 20 espécies, as quais foram fotografadas e identificadas com auxílio de literatura específica. As espécies mais abundantes na área de estudo foram Passer domesticus, Turdus rufiventris, Columba livia e Zenaida auriculata. O número de espécies registrado no presente estudo é relativamente baixo, considerando as riquezas de espécies registradas para outras áreas verdes da cidade. Talvez isto esteja relacionado à pouca diversidade vegetacional encontrada na área. Assim, a idéia de que a riqueza da avifauna está relacionada à riqueza da vegetação é uma grande motivação para que áreas bem arborizadas sejam mantidas nos centros urbanos. Abstract: The increasing urbanization is responsible for a significant change in the whole ecological system, including the avifauna and the flora presented. The presence of parks and squares where there is a predominance of vegetation is extremely important for breeding and housing of birds that are part of the cities. The present study aimed to contribute to the identification of the avifauna associated to Largo dos Açorianos, Largo Zumbi dos Palmares and Praça General Braga Pinheiro and Açorianos, located in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The sample data were collected on November 5 of 2014, during a field trip in the morning. 20 species were recorded, which were photographed and identified with the aid of specific literature. The most abundant species in both areas of study were Passer domesticus, Turdus rufiventris, Columba livia and Zenaida auriculata. The number of species recorded in the present study is relatively low considering the richness of species registered for other green areas of the city. Perhaps this is related to the low vegetation diversity found in the area. Thus, the idea that the richness of avifauna is related to the richness of vegetation is a great motivation for well-wooded areas to be maintained in urban centers.
