Two major developments in biotechnology, namely recombinant DNA and hybridoma technology, have been employed to address problems in animal health and production. This paper will first review the basic features of these new biotechnological developments and then discuss the kinds of reagents that have been developed by these technologies and how they will benefit animal health and production in the future.
