2003 Electron Cyclotron Emission and Electron Cyclotron Heating  
Electron Cyclotron Emission Imaging (ECEI) in TEXTOR measures the electron cyclotron emission (ECE) of a tokamak plasma along the same vertical observation chord as Thomson scattering. Although this makes cross-calibration between the two diagnostics rather straightforward, a number of physics effects need to be considered, of which refraction of the ECE waves is the most important.
