... a proposition for a green residential building initiative by investigating the critical success factors for the implementation of a green building project. For this study, an extensive review of the literature was performed to identify the Critical Success Factors (CSF) affecting the implementation of a green building project. In total 29 success factors were identified and characterized by relevant expert professionals through questionnaires on five points Likert scale for Principal Component Analysis(PCA). The valid number of respondents is 46 in the sample survey. The factor analysis of collected data summarized the success factors into seven principal components-Effectiveness of Vision and Strategy, Support from Authorities and Regulators, Project Management Effectiveness, Financial factor, Environment-Related factor, technical factor and Social factor. The result shows that the financial factor has the most positive impact followed by the technical factor and project management effectiveness. As the green building concept is in an augmentative stage in Bangladesh, this study was based on a small sample size and has limitations. But this study is crucial for the stakeholders of both commercial and residential environmentfriendly Building projects to manage a project with proper guidelines and also for the policymakers to draft necessary strategies to promote green residential building which is adaptive to Bangladesh, affordable and most importantly sustainable.
