In 2019, the University of Lille is ready to launch LillOA, an open archive connected to the French national Archive HAL and based upon D-Space technology. From the very beginning, the LillOA project has been designed to take into account the expression of researcher's needs: the academic library has worked with 12 pilot research labs and with a user's committee to identify core features and to prioritize them. Thanks to usability tests, the team collected the feedback of researchers about the

LillOA uses data integration to maximize the ease of use for researchers: connections with Pubmed, Crossref, the University directory and the bibliometric system of the University are associated with a batch import functionality. Researchers can retrieve their references into their personal account and easily add full text. Since LillOA is a new-born archive, the academic library still has to measure the effects of the project: however, first results show that the approach was much appreciated by researchers. They continue to get involved in the project and to give frequent and useful feedback.
