Temporal changes in male chironomid midges attracted to black-light in the Yoshiki River

Nocturnal occurrence pattern of male chironomid midges attracted to a black-light was examined throughout the night from Aug. 21-22, 1996. The number of midges was large at dusk and at dawn, and was small during the night both in terms of species and individuals, There were several occurrence patterns. 71anytarsus arduennensis was captured at dusk whereas POramerina divisa and Smittia ahanduodecima were mainly captured at dawn.
