1979 CYTOLOGIA
Physalis angulata L. is a natural tetraploid (2n=48) with several races . Na kazima (1931) reported a diploid race (2n=24) (vide Menzel 1951). Among the tetraploids, races like p26 show only bivalent formation while other form quadri valents in varying frequencies. Pachytene chromosome morphology of p26 was analysed and dcscribed here for the first time with a view to provide information useful for comparison of chromosome morphology in different races of this taxon.
