DESENVOLVIMENTO DE UMA GARRA MECÂNICA PARA ENSAIOS DE FADIGA [thesis]

This Project details all the process of the creation, from sketch and design to manufacturing and testing, of a pair of grips for fatigue testing, which will be used in a universal testing machine from one of the PUC-Rio's labs. Unlike most of the commercial grips, in this project it wasn't developed a hydraulic grip, but a mechanical one. This is, perhaps, its main attribute. Whereas hydraulic grips have their jaws pressed by a hydraulic force, the grip designed in this project does this job

A hydraulic grip is subject to oil leaks and needs an oil pump to pressurize it. In the end of this work, it will possible to compare experimental fatigue curves from testings with curves generated by commercial models, so that the developed grip can prove its effectiveness.
