This articled examines public water and waste management in Nigeria: Legal framework, obstacles and challenges. Public water and waste management has emerged as one of the greatest challenges facing environmental protection in Nigeria. The question of Legal framework in relation to public water and waste management is characterized by inefficient workforce, corruption, insufficient policies and poor enforcement of same. Therefore, if there is to be sustainable development in waste management in Nigeria, the availability of land (for landfill), human resources, plant and equipment and other tools including capital must be readily available. But these would have great limitation without functional legal structure.
